The legendary and most popular cricketing umpire Mr. David Shepherd died of a cancer on Tuesday. He was of 68. David was well known for his sound judgments and the professionalism he followed in his work.
“He was a fine player and a match official of the very highest quality.”
ICC President- David Morgan
David shepherd, the former English Test Cricket Umpire stood in 92 Tests and 172 One day Internationals. In 2005 he received in standing ovation from players as well as fans before retiring from international cricket; One day International between England and Australia at Oval was his last match as an umpire.
“He was a fine umpire. We umpired together all over the world. He was a character, a great man and a tremendous bloke. I’ve lost a friend. A great friend.”
Former Umpire – Dickie Bird
I was shocked when I read about Shepherd’s death in newspaper. He was one of my favourite cricket umpires. Coincidently most of his wrong decisions were against world’s no. 1 cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Overall an outstanding umpire in the era of world cricket.
CHAMPIONS TROPHY: S AFRICA v/s NEW ZEALAND

Its a do or die match for the South Africa as they have lost their Ist match against Sri Lanka. If they lose this match they will be out of Champions Trophy.
South Africa have restricted New Zealand for 214 -10(47.5), W. Parnell taking 5 wickets in 8 overs giving 57 runs.
South Africans are stronger and think so they will not have any problem against New Zealand.
